ELIAS Cancer Immunotherapy (ECI®) Treatment for Dogs
One in four dogs will develop cancer in their lifetime. Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over the age of two. It’s often discovered in late stages of the disease when treatment is difficult. Families of these pets are urgently looking for new and better options that not only prolong their companion’s life, but also improve quality of life. ELIAS Animal Health is elevating the hope of veterinarians and pet owners alike by changing the way cancer is fundamentally treated.
ELIAS Animal Health, in collaboration with local veterinarians and veterinary hospitals, is helping these dogs and their families address this reality.
At ELIAS Animal Health:
We are passionate about pets and their healthcare
We are compassionate with pet owners and veterinarians
We make data-driven decisions
We focus on evidence-based scientific claims
How the ELIAS Cancer Immunotherapy Works
Cells from the dog’s cancer are surgically removed and used to create a vaccine that is specific to the dog’s cancer.
When the dog receives the vaccines, their immune system is triggered to generate cancer-specific T cells. Only T cells have the unique molecular machinery inside them to eliminate actively growing cancer cells.
The T cells are collected from the dog in much the same way a human would donate blood and platelets, through a method called apheresis.
The collected T cells are “activated” in the ELIAS laboratory to generate a large population of personalized “killer” T cells, which are then infused back into the dog intravenously. Once inside the body, this army of stealth warriors travels to the cancer to attack and eliminate it.
